Job Description

Lead and develop purchasing policies and procedures to optimize hospital supply chain operations. Manage programs encompassing purchasing, inventory control, storerooms, receiving, distribution, and surplus disposal to ensure efficient resource utilization.

Review and approve purchase orders within budgetary and policy limits. Collaborate with various departments to control supply costs and ensure contract compliance. Support special projects at the facility level and participate in regional health management meetings, preparing reports as needed.

Advise clinical and department leaders on equipment, materials, and supply needs, balancing quality, availability, and cost to maximize operational efficiency within financial constraints. Oversee automated supply chain systems and coordinate equipment rentals and external resources to meet patient care demands.

Analyze monthly expenses and develop the annual budget for materials management. Establish supply charges based on formulary guidelines and provide detailed reports on supply utilization and capital expenditures to financial leadership. Conduct usage trend studies and negotiate purchase agreements with distributors, serving as the primary contact for vendor relations.

Interview sales representatives and evaluate vendor performance to ensure high-quality service. Coordinate supply maintenance during emergencies and enforce safe handling practices for hazardous materials within the department.

Foster staff development through ongoing education, training, coaching, counseling, evaluations, and open communication. Perform additional duties as necessary to support organizational mission and values.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is preferred.

Experience

Proven experience in materials management or supply chain leadership within a healthcare setting is essential. Strong budgeting, negotiation, and vendor management skills are required.

Requirements

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to analyze financial data, and proficiency with automated supply chain systems. Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance is mandatory.
