Position Summary

Recommend and develop CNC Programs and processes for optimum machinery and manufacturing efficiency.

Duties

1. Recommends and establishes CNC machine tool methods and procedures to replace conventional metal removal and machining methods.
2. Optimizes machine tool speeds and feeds to meet manufacturing demands while maintaining tolerances and maximizing tool life.
3. Requests tooling and fixtures for CNC machines such as lathes, mills, punch presses, and secondary machines.
4. Develops CNC programs for two or more axis machine tools using approved software.
5. Determines the best manufacturing methods considering machine selection, fixtures, and tooling.
6. Assists in tool design and fixture development for new product lines.
7. Performs mathematical calculations to ensure correct coordinates for machined features.
8. Creates spreadsheets for opportunity analysis, such as tooling cost analysis.
9. Collaborates with vendors to ensure purchased products meet facility needs.
10. Develops standard work procedures, setup sheets, and operation sheets for production.
11. Troubleshoots issues like tooling problems or incorrect features and develops corrective actions.
12. Communicates project updates to management and vendors via memos.
13. Assists in training production machinists.

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate Degree or trade school preferred.

Experience Requirements

1. At least 5 years of experience in machining or metal removal methods.
2. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
3. Good troubleshooting skills.
4. Solid math skills, including application.
5. At least 1 year of CNC programming experience.
6. Good interpersonal skills.
7. Preferred: 3 years of CAD experience.
8. Basic PC skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
