Insurance Defense Attorney - Northern California

Join Farmers Insurance DDHQ as an Insurance Defense Attorney in Northern California. This virtual position handles cases throughout Northern California. Attorneys work from home, attending in?person appearances and trials as required. Job Summary

Manages all phases of insurance defense cases from intake to resolution, focusing on low?complexity and low?exposure matters.

Essential Job Functions

• Litigate low?complexity, low?exposure cases from intake to trial or settlement, preparing pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs.
• Attend hearings, conferences, interviews, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
• Inform leadership of case opportunities and challenges.
• Consult with the Claims Department on legal aspects of files.
• Perform other tasks to ensure efficient case management.
• May handle second?chair trials or minimal?complexity cases.
• May support senior attorneys on moderate?complexity cases and receive developmental assignments.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree (preferred). Licensed to practice law in applicable states required upon hire.
• Preferred civil litigation and/or personal/bodily injury experience.
• Public speaking; ability to function in adversarial or confrontational situations; driving required.
• Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation, judgment, time?management, prioritization, and technical aptitude.

Physical Actions & Environment

Job requires prolonged sitting or standing, occasional movement, ability to handle items up to 50?lbs, navigation of stairs and uneven surfaces, and some travel between Farms offices, alternative work locations, or field sites. Work is performed in climate?controlled offices and, when required, in controlled outdoor environments.
