Machine Build Technician

Location: Akron, Ohio
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday-Thursday, First Shift (Overtime available Friday & Saturday as needed)

About the Role

Express Employment is seeking a Machine Build Technician to join our Operations team. In this role, you will assemble, rebuild, and repair machines and equipment according to established guidelines and quality standards. This position offers the opportunity to work on both standard equipment and custom machinery builds.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints and instructions to complete sub-assembly and final assembly of complex machinery.
• Verify parts against stock lists and blueprints for accuracy.
• Use hand and power tools to assemble units to required specifications.
• Collaborate with Engineering on custom product design projects.
• Drill, tap, and align components for assembly; secure parts using bolts, screws, dowels, welds, or rivets.
• Identify and adjust faulty components during assembly; report issues to management.
• Verify alignment and tolerances of moving parts.
• Assemble, set up, and operate machines to confirm functionality and compliance with customer specifications.
• Provide mechanical support to electricians and programmers as needed.
• Occasionally travel (up to 10% annually) domestically or internationally for installation, commissioning, or repair.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Assist other departments as required.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and follow blueprints and detailed instructions.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated with minimal supervision required.
• Technical degree or certification preferred but not required.
• Experience: 3+ years assembling capital equipment machinery or complex subassemblies.
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Ability to lift 25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
